Hi, I’m Amy Carrigan! My husband of 11 years is Joe. We have 3 kids together, and as of November 2018, they are: Hayden (10), Kyleigh (5, almost 6), and Patrick (3).
We occasionally travel with my parents to annual conventions for my dad and my husband’s work in the salvage industry. This year was the 75th annual convention, and they went all out at Disney World, Orlando! Tons of people brought their kids, grandkids, etc., from all over the world! My sister, Nikki, and her daughter, Shayla (2, almost 3), also joined us. Between all of us, there were 5 adults and 4 kids. We also went over Halloween, so we had to plan for that as well, which included an entire suitcase dedicated to Halloween costumes!
Our itinerary summed up included: Disney’s Animal Kingdom, Typhoon Lagoon, Magic Kingdom and Epcot. We have young kids, so we felt there was no need for Hollywood Studios, formally known as MGM Studios.
We stayed at Animal Kingdom Lodge for 1 1/2 days (2 nights), and then moved to The Dolphin Hotel, where the convention was being held, for the remainder of the time.
In this blog I will attempt to help you plan, prep and execute a successful trip to Disney World with kids! I’ll be sharing our experiences, our trial and errors, the good, the bad, and the ugly! I honestly haven’t been to Disney World in about 30 years, and it was a completely different experience than it was then! Even despite me being just a kid then and a parent now!
My first piece of advice is this...you may *think* you know what you’re doing, you may even think this is no big deal—it’s just another family vacation! Well, think again! You have absolutely no idea what you’re in for! Especially if you haven’t been in decades! It’s an entirely different experience now! So hopefully this blog will help with advice from a simple parent to another!
